Lisa L. Nelson, B.S.J.D
Lisa is one of several professionals that can offer additional knowledge and expertise if required and Amy began consulting with her in 2010.
Lisa began representing children with special needs in 1998 at the Disability Law Center (DLC) in Boston, MA., where she represented children and families at IEP meetings, meditations and hearings with positive outcomes. Lisa presented at parent training seminars, coauthored articles in a Disability Law Journal and was a member of the local special education Task Force. Early in her legal career she taught litigation preparation to paralegals at a private college.
Since moving to Long Beach, Lisa has been involved in several child focused organizations including Parent Teacher Association (PTA), cooperative preschools and the Community Advisory Committee (CAC) for Special Education where she held offices of co-chair and secretary for serveral years. She volunteered for many years with a local school district as a surrogate parent and held educational rights for many children in foster care and living in group homes. Currently Lisa works as an Educational Advocate representing students and assists parents in navigating the California Regional Centers.
She is also the mother of 2 high schools students.
